I began by removing the old chassis from my Van.  Then, over a period of a few months, I painstakingly measured every single aspect of the original chassis and used this information and the original factory dimensions to draw up a fully dimensioned version of what I wanted.  Next, I had to break the drawing up into sections to take into account the production techniques I would use to build the first prototype.  The factory presses used in the production of the original chassis are no longer in existence as far as my research led me to find out.  I had to be able to reproduce an accurate copy using Laser cutting, CNC sheet metal bending and a lot of time and effort with a welder.  As the prototype took shape I was able to compare it with my own original and an un-welded original owned by Maurice Rapley of MTR Restorations in Devon.  These comparisons coupled with the help and advice of Maurice (there is not much he does not know about these things) has enabled me to complete what I believe to be a very accurate replica. I then built a jig from the prototype to enable me to reproduce additional chassis in a fraction of the time.
